MHBI can be your Owner's Representative
What is an Owner's Representative?
An Owner's Representative is a person you hire to represent your interests to those with which you have (or will have) a contractual agreement for services or materials and equipment, generally for a construction project. These entities can be the general contractor (GC), other contractors you hire, sub-contractors, municipal staff, or permit, plan reviewer, or inspection officials. The owner's representative can also act on your behalf with architects, engineers, attorneys, or as a expert witness (on some issues or in a partial way).
Why use an Owner's Representative?
An Owner's Representative can act on your behalf in communications with contractors, vendors, or municipalities, and be the skilled and knowledgeable person at your side to answer the questions and concerns you may have as a projects starts and/or progresses.
Your owner's representative gives you recommendations to save you time and money, keep you from making bad decisions (if you listen and act), and overall, to protect your interests in a specific agreed upon way.
The financial benefits of an owner's representative depends on the contracted services, but in many cases is well worth the cost by providing financial cost savings, time savings, avoiding (before they happen) or correcting contractor mistakes, or seeing design and implementation issues before they happen and are installed.
An owner's representative can provide the objective advice you might not get from the people who are involved in your contracted job.
